New Candidates for Mexico City's Attorney General

It is expected that in the coming days the exams and the process to select the final shortlist will continue, where the Legislative Power of Mexico City will define who will lead the Attorney General's Office. The current call has seven candidates and the citizenship has from November 13 to 16 to submit complaints regarding the selection of candidates at the facilities of the Citizen Judicial Council.

Among the seven candidates on the list are Ulrich Richter Morales, Fernando Moreno Caballero, José Alejandro García Ramírez, Francisco Javier Rodríguez Espejel, Bertha María Alcalde Luján, Anaid Elena Valero Manzano, and Mario Alberto Martell Gómez. It is expected that in the coming days the evaluations will continue and it will be announced who will make up the final shortlist that will be voted on by the Congress of Mexico City.

Bertha Alcalde Luján, a lawyer specializing in Criminal Law, has held several public positions in the past, including being the Commissioner of Sanitary Operations at Cofepris in 2021, head of the Institute of Safety and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) from February to October 2024, among others. Her name has been mentioned several times for significant positions.

On this occasion, her name is being considered as an option from a list of candidates to be the new head of the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City. Bertha Alcalde has been a finalist for the President Counselor of the INE in 2023 and has been in shortlists for other important positions. Along with her family, she has held various positions in the Government.

In this new selection process for the head of the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City, Bertha Alcalde seeks to consolidate her position in a significant role.
